My aunt Sibongile Soko asked me to add her story on behalf of her sisters. It reads as follows:
We as Soko’s family in KZN, Newcastle are seeking your help in locating our father’s family in Zambia who we have never met. We do have some very little information about them.
My late father Zebron Chaflum Soko born on the 14th of August 1914 arrived here in South Africa around 1942, originally from Zambia, he was Nsenga.
He was still young at that time when he arrived here. He got married to my late mother Constance Maliwase Mvula and God blessed them with 11 children, 10 dauhters and only one son. My mother was a South African citizen.
My father tried to renew his Zambian passport but was rejected by the department in Pretoria during the previous apartheid government.
I have got with me proof of all his efforts to become a legal South African citizen. He unfortunately passed on, on the 3rd of July 1987 while residing in KZN, Newcastle, Madadeni.
The person on the photo above is a relative( My father’s uncle) who we kept contact through writing letters to each other. His name was Mr JE Mwambula of P O Box 560044 Petauke, Zambia. His address prior to this one was P O Box 33, Petauke, Zambia. I also have my aunts’ (Keslina, Elenia and Besinati) last residential address which is Village Mwambula, Chief Nyampande P O Petauke, Zambia.
Another relative who was known by my father and uncle is Elia Mwanza of Chilando, but he had passed on by then.
We have never met anyone from my father’s family and would love to see and know about his background which also is our own. We will really appreciate your assistance in this matter as we have tried all we could but to no avail. We please avail to anyone with any form of information.
My contact details are Sibongile Soko, House 5560 Section 4, Madadeni, 2951, contact number 073 510 6381.
Thank you in advance.
