My mother’s name is Lily (I don’t know her surname) from Taung. When I last saw my mom I was still young, that was 1964/1965. I am not sure about my age; however my little sister Ponty was about 8-9 months.
My mother had 3 girls –Nonzima, Lesebo and Ponty. We lived with our mom at Taung until the last time I saw her. The last time I saw her it was at night, when we were about to sleep, I heard her and my dad (Zoro Zalisile Ngwenda) arguing. That very same night she walked away and I never saw her again since 1964/1965.
My uncle (father’s brother) took us to King Williams Town where we were fetched by our paternal grandmother who took us to Ngcabasa (Middlesdrift). My Mother Lily and Zoro Zalisile Ngwenda met at Kuruman Mine where my father worked. My sister Nonzima grew up with my maternal uncle’s son Jockey in Taung.
My mother used to work at Klerksdorp, sometimes she would leave us with an old lady in Bloemhof to look after us while she (my mom) looked for a job.
I don’t have my mother’s picture but I have attached myself and my sister’s picture.
